General Outlook

As you see on google earth, Sona Villa , the lake chalet is a 5 acres property, is a teardrop in the lake, giving it an impression of an isolated private island. The surrounding area is lush green throughout the year. There is no habitation nearby and is well hidden in the woods amidst the dense flora and fauna. The surrounding area is on route of migratory birds that come in thousands to roost in the neighboring trees. The area is abode to the native birds like the hornbill, peacock and a huge variety of birds and butterflies which is treat for the naturalists. This is also the home for wild animals like the deer, stag, sambhar, wild boar etc.

It is located in Ambalpad, a quaint little village in the Konkan belt of Sindhudurg, about 5 km from Kudal railway station and 2 km from the national highway NH 17 that runs from Mumbai to Goa. It is about 25 km from Malvan, the hot spot for water sports, the pristine beaches of Vengurla and Deobaug, and the historical town of Sawantwadi. It is an hour’s drive from Amboli hill station and from Panjim, Goa.

Sona Villa provides 4 air conditioned tiled en suite cottages, designed like a thai villa, with all modern amenities, overlooking a pool. These are big rooms and each can accommodate upto 3 people.

There are 3 outdoor decks varying from 150 sq. f.t to 1500 sq. ft. giving a panoramic view of the wide expanse of the lake. These are ideal places to relax and unwind or enjoy your drinks and meals in the midst of nature

There is also a 2000 sq. ft. dupleix bungalow with 6 bathrooms, 4 double bedded bedrooms and 2 huge rooms with 5 beds in each, a big terrace for more than 10 people and a huge lawn about 1500 sq. ft. This can accommodate about 20 people comfortably. There is also a huge open space next to the bungalow, about an acre in size, that can be used for big events like a marriage, gathering etc

Kudal station is located on the konkan railway line which is about 4 km from Sona Villa. The NH 17 higway to goa is only 2.5 km from here. Kudal is a centrally located and all important tourist spots like Malvan (fort), Tarkarli ( water sports), virgin beaches at Vengurla, Nivti, Bhogwe are easily accessible from here. Panjim,Goa is just 80 km away. You can visit Amboli hill station, Radhanagri forest reserve, Sawantwadi, Doodh sagar water falls to name a few. To can take treks to the nearby forests and forts.

The room was well equipped and the service was excellent. From the balcony, we could view the lake and feel the cool breeze. The location of our room was absolutely perfect.I would like to say original flavours of malvani food service is five star. Note, this is not a 4/5-star hotel or so, but the atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to me. An ongoing labour of love for Dr Arun Rane,the creator of this magical place ,it is a nature lovers' paradise with umpteen birds , squirrels and butterflies of different hues to keep you company. The calm and scenic lake,the gentle cool breeze and quiet surroundings take your breath away and prepare you to unwind completely as you sit on the deck overlooking the serene waters or dip your tired feet in it. The staff makes you at home in the comfortable and thoughtfully decorated rooms and then pamper you with the most delectable Malwani fare that includes Kombdi ,wade and freshly netted Telapia fried in a batter of semolina. Thank you Dr Arun sir for the most relaxing and envigorating holiday enriched further by the stimulating conversation we had with you while we were at your property . Being my Village, it gives me immense pleasure when I see this place, as it has its own Konkan essence in it, with the beautiful and mesmerizing surroundings, lip smacking Malvani food and that eye pleasing lake side view of this villa will leave you with wonderful memories to cherish forever! Best thing is their location is at the center of all nearby famous places, very close to Kudal station ,Mumbai-Goa Highway & Kudal City! Suitable for Gatherings, Picnics & Outstation Stay, Even if you're looking for a dream place for your pre wedding photo or video shoots, look no further! They really did make our Small Get-Together Grand and Memorable with their touch of Hard Work, Courteous Approach & Friendliness. My father's School Batchmates (Kudal High School's S.S.C batch 1975) formed a group named "Bheti Lagi Jiva" in the year 2012, we were glad to organize our 3rd get together, 2nd time in "Sona Villa". The lovely moments spent here in 3 days, They are true to their name its a “Sona” Villa 🙂 They have plenty of space for parking and outdoor activities, they are also planning to launch some adventure sports in the near future! Overall the hospitality and the special welcome by the Villa Owner Dr.Rane was really heart warming! You could literally talk to him for hours and he will have some amazing stories to share with you! Must visit place for all the konkan lovers!!!
